We Need Your Help!

There are tons of volunteer opportunities throughout the year covering a range of needs. We welcome all talents, passions, and experience – whether you have 30 minutes, 3 hours, or more time to commit, we’d love to have you involved. The more volunteers available to help, the less overall time each individual needs to commit to pull of all of our PTGO initiatives in grand form!

The PTGO has several committees to help facilitate various events and fundraising projects. Check out the all of our committees and major projects below. If you’re interested, click the sign-me-up link to fill out a short contact form that lets us know you’re interested and available to help. If you’d like to volunteer for multiple committees, that’s awesome – you can submit one form with multiple committees selected and we’ll be in touch with specific ways you can help!

The PTGO cannot exist without parent volunteers – we truly appreciate any and all help!

Read-a-Thon

Read-a-thon is River Park's largest annual fundraiser. Donations generated from Read-a-thon fund over half of our overall PTGO budget. It is crucial that we make Read-a-thon a successful event every year! There are so many ways you can volunteer time, talents, and effort to help us facilitate this fun (an important event). From planning (creating info packets, organizing prize tiers, promoting the event, working with teachers and staff for a smooth experience), Implementation (collecting and recording reading minutes, tracking daily donations, documenting progress), to the Event Finale (assembling prize packets, totaling and reporting on total minutes read and final donation values) there are ALOT of roles to fill and we welcome all skill sets and time offerings!!

Fundraising

This is a BIG one that takes lots of helping hands!!! The PTGO is 100% funded by donations and fundraising efforts. There are many BIG fundraising events throughout the year including Read-a-thon (see above) and the Spring Carnival & Auction. There are also smaller fundraising efforts that happen throughout the year including Spirit Nights, Painted Grape and others. The Fundraising Committee welcomes ALL talents, availability, and ideas!

Hospitality & Teacher Appreciation

River Park has the BEST teachers and staff and we want to make sure they always feel supported and appreciated! The PTGO currently hosts monthly Stock-the-Fridge events and Teacher Appreciation Breakfasts but we know there are more ways we can show our support! If you have a passion for hospitality or really just love our teachers and staff (who doesn't?!!), this is the committee for you!

Grounds & Beautification

There are several upcoming grounds & beautification projects including restoration of the nature trail and continued maintenance and improvements for Ms. McCurdy's dry creek bed project! Playground updates also fall under this committee! We want River Park to look it's best and for students and staff to be proud of their school. If you like working outside or have any experience in landscaping, construction, horticulture, or gardening, this is the committee for you!

Event Planning

Reaching out to the community and generating community support is important to the River Park PTGO. This is an area that could use some growth and new ideas. In the past, we've hosted a beginning-of-the-year ice cream social but we would like to incorporate more community events throughout the year. If you have ideas to help in this area or strong community connections, this is the committee for you!

Grant Research & Writing

There are dozens (possibly hundreds) of grants available for schools like River Park. Often times, grant research and writing falls to teachers who have a specific project or interest in mind (like Ms. McCurdy's creek bed project) but we can help! From security upgrades to school supplies, field trips and more - there are resources available and we can help find them and acquire them! If you have experience in grant research or writing or are interested in learning more, this is the job for you!
